Askheap

Askheap is a desktop application for macOS that collects the action items addressed to you across Slack, Gmail and WhatsApp and keeps them on a single task list. It exists so a request buried in a busy channel or inbox doesn't quietly get missed.

What it does

• You connect the accounts you choose. Each source is optional and connected separately.
• Askheap reads new messages from those sources and identifies the ones asking you to do something.
• Those become items on one board, each labelled with the source it came from.
• Everything is stored on your own Mac. There is no Askheap server and no user account.

How Askheap uses your Google account data

• Askheap requests read-only access to Gmail (gmail.readonly). It never sends, drafts, deletes or modifies mail.
• It reads only the sender, subject line, and the short preview snippet of recent messages — it does not download or read the body of your emails.
• That data is used for one purpose: showing you your own outstanding action items inside the app, on your own computer.
• It is stored only on your Mac. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train any general-purpose AI model.
• You can disconnect Gmail in the app at any time, or revoke access from your Google account's security settings.

Local-first, and we mean it

• Runs entirely on your Mac. There is no Askheap server.
• No account to create. Nothing to sign up for.
• Your data stays on your machine; keys live in the macOS Keychain.
• Gmail is read-only, and only the sender, subject and preview — never message bodies.
• WhatsApp is read from the desktop app already on your Mac, one opted-in chat at a time.

Turning messages into tasks uses your own Anthropic API key, so that processing is between you and Anthropic. We're not in the middle of it — see the privacy policy.
